Dr. karen sueda is a practicing veterinary behaviorist, a doctor who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of behavior problems in pets. dr. sueda uses her extensive training and medical background to help people understand their pet’s behavior, and educates them on how to effectively communicate with their pets. she is one of only a few veterinarians who specialize in animal behavior in los angeles. dr. sueda treats animals at vca west los angeles animal hospital and also makes house calls for behavior cases in southern california. she is known throughout the united states as a leader in the field. dr. sueda’s expertise includes feline behavior, anxiety-related disorders and the human-animal bond. dr. sueda is a graduate of the university of california, davis veterinary school and completed a one-year internship at the veterinary medical and surgical group in ventura, calif. she later returned to uc davis and completed a three-year residency in clinical animal behavior. dr. sueda taught veterinary students and served as a uc davis behavior clinician before founding the behavior service at vca west los angeles animal hospital where she currently practices. dr. sueda is one of only 54 diplomats of the american college of veterinary behaviorists in the world. she also serves as the president of the american veterinary society of animal behavior, a group of veterinarians and research professionals that seek to understand how animals behave and share that knowledge with the public through education and clinical service. dr. sueda was born and raised in hawaii where her family continues to reside. dr. sueda currently lives in los angeles.
